My Go-to Lunch for Rushed Mornings

Our weekly lunch menu is as follows:

  • If kids are home, I cook. On days off school and weekends, my older kids often make their own lunches.
  • If kids are at school, I pack their lunches 4 out of 5 days.
  • 1 day out of 5 I let the children buy the school lunch. Our county’s school lunches are reasonable. Varied food choices. Healthy options. Snack or dessert is not included in the lunch, but is available for an additional cost.
  • When I travel I buy Lunchables.

While I would like to claim that I prepack lunches for the days when I will be out of town for blogging trips or conferences, the reality is that is easier to buy a Lunchables. My husband can throw the Lunchables in to each kid’s lunch box speedy fast on school mornings.

Two weeks ago I was at #TypeAMom Conference. I knew I would be gone on Friday morning. I bought three Lunchables Lunch Combinations. All three children were happy to have something new and fun to eat in their lunchboxes!

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Lunchables Lunch Combinations  recently expanded their better-for-you lunch selections to include feature water bottles not juice bags. Fruit cups. Apple sauce. Bread made with whole grain. I bought all three of my children the Deep Dish Cheese Pizza.

I found out that Lunchables has worked hard to reduce overall sodium content, fat and calories by at least 20% throughout their product lines, and adding spring water and fruit to various lunches. Newly available options such as the Chicken and American Sub Sandwich as well as Chicken Strips, now come with DOLE Mandarin Oranges. Lunchables now has 100% white meat chicken, reduced-fat cheese, and bread made with whole grain.

Even the container can be recycled…paper wrap to paper recycling bin, plastic bottle to plastics recycling bin, and plastic container to the plastics recycling bin as well. Kids love to recycle.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Lunchables and received the products necessary to  facilitate my review. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me  for taking the time to participate.
