A few months ago we saw Tangled. We missed the official screening due to traffic. You would think after living in the D.C. area for over 20 years that I would check traffic BEFORE driving to an event AFTER learning that there was a parade right near the theater where the movie screening was taking place. No! Not me! And yes we walked in front of a group of tiny gymnasts who were walking in the parade to get to the screening even though we were too late to go to the screening. We’re Disney fans! (Lest you think that we are insensitive fans…we did wait until there was a gap in the parade before walking across the street to the movie theater. It was a Thanksgiving parade…all the kids in the parade were super cute.)
Lesson learned.
When we finally got to see Tangled, we were not disappointed. From my 15-year-old teen who would rather see any film other than a PG film to husband, we all loved Tangled. It’s a cliche…but Tangled was “laugh out loud” funny. The DVD will definitely have a place in our family DVD collection.
Disney’s latest film sounds like another winner. Have you heard about Gnomeo & Juliet? Gnomeo & Juliet opens in theaters everywhere on February 11th in 3D. A Touchstone Pictures release, Gnomeo & Juliet is an “off-the-wall makeover on Shakespeare’s classic tale of Romeo & Juliet set to the music of Elton John” per the press release.
Here is a brief synopsis:
Two garden gnomes, Gnomeo (voice of James McAvoy — Mr. Tummus from Chronicles of Narnia’s the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) and Juliet (voice of Emily Blunt — Meryl Streep’s haughty assistant in The Devil Wears Prada), try to avoid tragedy and find a happy ending to their star-crossed love affair when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors.
The movie is scheduled to open February 11. Nothing will stop our family from getting to the screening…not traffic, fog, snow. I’ll post my review once I see it. Gnomeo & Juliet looks like a sweet movie for the kids and a hoot for my husband and me as he is an English teacher and I was an English major in college!
