Mom 2.0 in February. Bloggy Boot Camp in March. #MomzShare on Saturday. I am one lucky bug!
Lucky to have the chance to learn more about my craft through conferences like Mom 2.0 and Bloggy Boot Camp. Fortunate to have the fellowship of bloggers who get it at all three. Loved the close proximity of Bloggy Boot Camp and Momzshare. Flying to a conference is exciting, but driving 30 minutes to an hour is less taxing on the pocket.
Momzshare was the most social of the three events. No agenda for Momzshare. I brought biz cards, but handed out maybe 3. I brought an appetizer to share. So did the other bloggers. The bloggers at Momzshare write blogs, sell products, or don’t do either but are considering starting a blog.
I was late to Momzshare. I had spent all day at the mall with my teen and her friend. While the girls watched Dear John and shopped til they dropped, I hung out at Starbucks. Did you know that you can get 2 hours free wifi from AT&T when you have a Starbucks card? All I needed to do was register the car and log in. I don’t know whether I have ever been so productive in a 2-hour time period. I was a blogging machine!
I drove to Momzshare knowing I was later than the 5 p.m. start time. There was nothing I could do, so I drove slowly since it was raining. I wondered how many people I would know at the event. Would there be just a few bloggers or many? I was astounded to see the numbers of parked cars.
Once I walked in I was warmly welcome by Lara. She made me feel at home. Next I saw Kim. Now I was feeling a little more at home. Kim and I tweet often. I soon saw Jen in her pink scarf and pink Cons. Within in 10 minutes I had spotted Amy and Susan and Jean. Now I felt at home. And then I stopped to chat to Stacey. She was a speaker at Bloggy Boot Camp. Now I was feeling more at home.
I saw groups of people I didn’t know but wasn’t ready to start a conversation with new people…yet. I wandered in to the back room to sit down for a minute. Started to chat to Melinda. I met her at Bloggy Boot Camp. Once I chatted to Melinda I felt more at ease approaching new-to-me people.
By the end of the night I had connected to quite a few more bloggers. Momzshare was about friendship, learning through meeting people, and getting to know new brands both national and local. I can’t wait for the next #MomzShare event on May 22!!
I took no photos — too busy enjoying the evening. Michele started a Flickr group.
Funny moment of the night… As I was driving home I realized that I had stashed the Tarara Winery bottle of wine in my driver’s side cup holder. Thank goodness I wasn’t pulled over!
Sweet moment of the night… I’m on somewhat of a winning streak with giveaways. I need to write a post about this. I had no expectations of winning anything at the Momzshare event. So many people were there. Imagine my surprise when Jen and Lara announced that someone would win the Elf makeup kit…the person with the longest marriage. Hello! Jen/Lara asked who had been married the longest. What? Married the longest. “Twenty years” I yelled out. Well, I didn’t yell but someone near me heard me and called out “20 years!” And there I was the proud winner of the Elf cosmetics. What can I say I was a child bride…
