Nescafe Dolce Gusto: More than Instant

Coffee is my thing. My vice. My secret treat for myself. Starbucks. Caribou Coffee. Corner bakery. Even McDonald’s McCafe hits the spot. But, what about brewing coffee worthy of a coffee shop creati0n at home?

I have a jar or two of instant coffee. But, instant is not my favorite home beverage. I much prefer Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke. However, I cannot stomach DP or DC early in the a.m. So, what is a “blogger who spends many late nights, but must get up early to get kids on various school buses” to do? Leap at the chance to review an in home coffee brewing machine!

The Nescafe Dolce Gusto was fun to review. I had a few missteps early in the process. I was given a bag of capsules for my review. About half were packaged in dark capsules, while the rest had white/light packaging. I know now that it takes two capsules — one dark and one light — to make most drinks. The dark and light capsules are both labeled with the name of the drink: Cappucino, Caramel Machiatto, Chococinno.

I wasted a few of the capsules by brewing very strong coffee with two dark capsules instead of a dark and a light. My teen brewed several milky drinks with a couple of the white capsules. This graphic illustrates which drinks are “One Capsule” and which “Two Capsules.”
