Holiday Gift Guide: Car Toons Mater’s Tall Tales (wii)

Every so often a film comes around that we all like. All 5 of us. To find a film that all 5 of us can tolerate is a tall order. A film that works for mom and dad and a kid, a tween and a teen? A tall order indeed.

A sure bet is Disney. But lately a Disney film that my 7-year-old son likes is one that my 14-year-old won’t even watch on family movie night.

As you know the new subtitle of this blog is “Seizing family time one dinner at a time.” I could replace the “dinner” with “movie” or “game.” I am ALWAYS in search of fun stuff for us to do as a family.

Cars was that rare movie that we all loved. We took our youngest to see the movie when he was 3 or 4. I “think” it was his first movie. We took him on a night when his sisters were at the grandparents. My son talked and talked and talked about Lightning and Mater and Luigi that the girls just had to see the movie. Soon enough we had the DVD. My son became a weekly Cars the year I was in graduate school. I would sneak in to the family room to watch it with him when I was supposed to be working. Ahem…it’s a good movie…I couldn’t help myself!

Last week I received a copy of Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales Wii game for review. No guesses as to who demanded to review the game first. His sisters joined him in playing after he had experimented with the wii game.

My son is a wii-gamer. He would play all day some days. Other days he never asks for the wii. Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales Wii game was fun for him. He was easily able to set up his car, navigate through a couple of games, open up a couple of bonus games, and more. He played a game where he decorated his race car. His sister added sunglasses and a large bow to her car. My son affixed a mustache to his car. I found Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales Wii to be a game that worked for girls and boys. Kids and tweens. I am not a gamer, but even I was tempted to play the bull fighter in the ring game.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Disney Interactive Studios and received the Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales Wii game to facilitate my revieew.
