I’m not what you would call a watcher of action/adventure movies. My dad is all about movies with fast-paced car chases while my mother is all about movies where nothing happens. My husband likes movies with action, and so do the kids. But I am happy with a family drama or mystery thriller type of movie.
As you can imagine, I was less than enthused about watching Transformers. But you know what? I loved that movie. The special effects were amazing, The robots were incredibly detailed. The writing was tight. There were even funny bits. When the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Transformers: Dark of the Moon were released I didn’t have to be asked twice if I wanted to see them.
Recently a video game arrived that I knew my son would like…because hat video game doesn’t he like?! He took one look at this game, and started jumping up and down. He’s totally OK with showing his emotions…especially if he gets to play a game that he has wanted for a long time. He doesn’t talk much about games he wants to play, so I had no idea that he even wanted the game. As luck would have it, Transformers Prime Wii arrived on a Friday, so there was no need to squeeze pesky homework assignments and cello practice!
What the Kid Liked:
- My son was able to enter game-playing mode easily. No hassles or glitchy hang ups.
- He was able to play as one of his favorite Autobot characters on an adventure to save the earth from the evil Megatron and his new secret weapon.
- In the single player campaign, he could play as one of the following:players will step into the roles of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Autobot Ratchet, and Bulkhead.
- He can’t wait for his friend to come over to play the multiplayer modes where he and his friend can choose from 11 different Transformers characters from both factions.
- He was able to meet up with human characters in Transformers — Jack, Miko and Raf – as Team Prime on a mission to protect mankind and eliminate the Decepticons once and for all.
What the Mom Liked:
- Transformers Prime varies from the previous Transformers game, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, as in this game is based on the children’s series from The Hub.
- If my son is going to watch a show on TV, I would prefer that the show was appropriate for kids.
