Over Memorial Day Weekend, the Musings from Me family — Mom, Dad, Teen, Tween, and Kid — journeyed to Penn State for a super exciting volleyball tournament. The Mom washed and washed and washed every single stitch of clothing for the Teen, Tween, and Kid to wear on their trip. As fast as the Mom pulled the clothes out of the suitcase the Teen, Tween, and Kid wore the clothes.
For three days the Teen and the Tween played match after match of volleyball. They served. They dove. They passed. And they sweated. Boy, how they sweated in the barely air conditioned gymnasiums. Three games a day for three days with only two uniform jerseys a piece is more than even deoderant can handle.
At the end of the trip, the Mom and the Dad stuffed the stinky, smelly, sweaty, and oh-so slimy sports stuff back in the suitcases. Once home the Dad, did load after load of laundry. He washed and dried and folded and washed and dried and folded until the pile of stinky, smelly, sweaty, and oh-so slimy sports stuff was transformed in to sweet, sassy, spectacular, and oh-so splendid sports stuff.
As I plan our next trip to a volleyball tournament (1) I will let the kids wash the stinky, smelly, sweaty, and oh-so-slimy sports stuff and (2) I will use Tide Ultra for all our laundry needs. It’s for the best…trust me.
