I started this post a few months ago. I wrote part of it then deleted it. I didn’t know what direction I wanted to go with the post.
I have shared the statement with many moms and dads of teens: Teen is the new terrible twos. Am I right?
Teens and toddlers are pouty.
Teens and toddlers want to get their own way.
Teens and toddlers will do anything to get their own way.
Teens and toddlers can be upset easily when someone raises their voice or looks at them.
Teens and toddlers need to change outfits multiple times per day.
Teens and toddlers do not put away their toys.
Teens are too old for timeout and wouldn’t sit in timeout anyway. Ditto for toddlers.
Teens and toddlers either eat dinner like food is going out of style or will only eat orange food or a bagel with creamed cheese or Twizzlers.
Teens and toddlers don’t listen when called for dinner. Teens are connected to ipods. Toddlers are connected to toys.
Teens and toddlers can be sweet and then not so much.
Teens and toddlers want hugs, but not right now.
What is your teen like? Your toddler? Any similarities to how your teens and toddlers act?
I don’t just post about teens and tweens here on this blog. I post over at Momster.com. Momster is the place for moms of tweens and teens. I go to Momster to hear about what is to come for my teen — driving, dating, and not drinking. I go to Momster to share my knowledge about tweens and early teens with moms who have children who are young teens. I love helping a Momster mom out! I’m a Momster mom, are you?
