I drove miles and miles and miles last year. I was in a morning carpool, an afternoon, carpool, a sports carpool, and an assortment of other carpools. Seriously, I was never at home. I was hardly out of my minivan. That’s an exaggeration…of course…but not that far off. When I wasn’t in my minivan, I was on the computer or phone working out carpool arrangements.
Last year was an extraordinary year. From driving many, many miles to new schools, last year was one for the record books. After 12 years of having kids in local public schools, we opted to have one child go to a private school. It was a scary decision, which left my husband and I worried that we had made the right decision. With two kids in public school and one in private school, transportation became a huge issue for me.  How would I get two kids on the school bus and one kid to a school without bus service in a different county?
Enter the carpool. I had little experience with carpools. All I knew is that I needed to find one…stat. And find one I did. Except it was actually two carpools…one morning and one afternoons. The afternoon carpool was very convoluted, but really the morning carpool was no better. I had a veritable database of names, emails, and cell phones in my phone for every parent who drove carpool and every girl who I drove. It was a quite a list!
While my databank of phone numbers was a lifesaver, I spend a large amount of time tracking down the girls and the parents who were driving. Through a mixture of phone calls, texts, and emails, I communicated with the other moms and dads. Having a centrally located “spot” would have been super helpful. One tool is Life360 an app.
Life360 is a location app that:
  • Uses top-notch GPS technology to help you locate people in your Life360 Circles.
  • Ensures that your locations and conversations are always private and available only to people you invite in to your Life360 Circle.
  • Allows you to see where everyone is on a map to letting them know you’ll be five minutes late, we’ve designed Life360 to make things a lot easier.
  • Is available for iPhone and Android phones.
  • Is FREE!

Life360’s research shows that 6 to 8 text messages a day are dedicated to the question: “Where Are You?”* Yup, if you look through my text messages, you’ll see messages to my oldest asking when she will be home…messages to my husband asking whether he can drive the youngest to soccer…messages to my middle to see if she made it to her carpool. I’m asking “Where Are You?” all day long!

So if you are a busy mom or dad, I’m going to suggest that need a way to communicate with family members, coordinate plans, and figure out the days’ logistics. But don’t just take my word for it, give Life360 a try! It’s free…so what have you got to lose!
