As I walked through the KFC HQ a week or two ago, I could not miss the very recognizable smell. It was the smell of chicken…KFC chicken. It was everywhere. The smell of chicken seemed to follow our band of bloggers. It brought me back to my childhood. I have very strong memories of eating chicken out of the bright red bucket!
As part of our blogger tour, we saw one of the chefs cook chicken. The process for adding the Colonel’s Secret Recipe was interesting to watch. There’s a lot of sifting and stirring and mixing of the floury/spicy/herby mixture before the chicken is cooked.
We even sampled freshly made Original Recipe Chicken ourselves. In fact I even got to cook a batch of chicken. Cooking chicken is hard, intensive work done with care and a high level of attention to detail. The KFC way is to cook everything from scratch.
The Original Herbs and Spices — that are the key ingredient in the Colonel’s Secret Recipe Chicken — are prepared at two different spice factories. A third factory mixes the two sets of ingredients to form the basis for the Colonel’s Secret Recipe.
Remember, I told you about the pile of KFC Gift Dollars I was given? I’m staring at that pile right now. I want to share it with someone…now. In fact, I want to share it with you! I have $50 in KFC Gift Dollars to give away to one lucky reader.
