Childrens Hospital: The Complete Third Season on… by thewbdotcom
As you know I write for WBWord. I get to write about upcoming shows and DVDs of WB shows. One show I have been asked to write about is Childrens Hospital. The doctors on this show are a tad irreverent and they don’t take anything seriously, especially showing up for work. I would not want to waiting in a hospital waiting room for one of these guys and gals, that is for sure.
These docs are so practiced at explaining why they are late they could provide write a manual. I once worked for a publisher as the coordianator of copyeditors. I mostly edited and managed the production cycle of books, journals, manuals, and newsletters. In my spare time (ha!) I scrambled about to find copyeditors willing to do lots of work for little pay. Fun job, right? Well, we had a core group who were amazing. They got the job done. We had another group who were so-so and only used when were in a bind. The third and final group were used only in cases of emergency. One day I got a frantic call that one of these copyeditors couldn’t turn in her work. I sighed, adjusted the phone under my chin, and asked her Why? Her answer was classic. Her computer had been struck by the “Y2K” virus. I was speechless for a moment because OF COURSE her computer was afflicted by this virus. Among the many millions of computers in the world, I had to assign an online copyediting job on a rush-rush schedule to someone who was always full of excuses.
[Adult Swim]‘s Children’s Hospital has been called “brilliant.” The courageous men and women of Childrens Hospital are known as ”brilliant, egotistical, nymphomaniacal doctors.” But saving lives is what they do…whether the patients like it or not. This group of doctors is led by resident clown doctor Blake Downs — Rob Corddry. These doctors do it all “disrobe, do Ecstasy, donate organs (except for the important one), or set up digs in a hospital bathroom.”
The creative mind behind the show is Corddry (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart). The show starts series regulars Malin Akerman (27 Dresses), Lake Bell (Boston Legal), Erinn Hayes (Parenthood), Rob Huebel (The Descendants), Ken Marino (Party Down), Megan Mullally (Will & Grace), and Henry Winkler (Happy Days). As well as a host of celebrity guest stars.
Haven’t caught the show yet? Never fear you can grab the DVD and watch all 14 Season Three episodes of this “outlandishly incorrect, medically dope and seriously short series” — Children’s Hospital.
You can buy the DVD on amazon for around $30. Find the 3rd Season of Children’s Hospital on DVD at WBShop.
