A Wood Watch? Wearing a #JordWatch and Loving It! #giveaway

Disclosure: I was sent a Jord watch to facilitate my review.

I remember looking down. I remember seeing the blueness of the strap. I remember stroking the metal face. I remember absolutely loving my first wrist watch. I was 8. My parents gave me that watch for my birthday. I was still learning to tell time. At recess, I would press my face against the window to my classroom and puzzle out the hands of the clock. The big hand is on the one and the little hand is on the… Once I got my watch I didn’t have to look for a clock as I had one on my wrist. I was so excited. Getting a watch was a big kid thing. I had asked for this watch for my birthday. I treasured that watch with the blue strap. Wore it every day. Then the inevitable happened. I dropped the watch in a puddle. Such a little kid thing to do and with my big kid watch, too. I was crushed. Devastated. It was back when waterproof watches were not sold. Watches didn’t “self-wind” either. You had to take your watch off to have a shower or swim. You wound your watch regularly to keep good time. I can still remember the feeling off complete hopelessness as I quickly picked up my watch out of the puddle, dried it on my sweatshirt, and stared at it. I knew it was not fixable. I didn’t have a birthday for months. I had to make do without a watch until I got a new one. IMAG5705 Jord Wood Watches Ely Series Wooden Watch Timepiece Wrist Watch

My husband says that kids don’t wear wrist watches any more. He says they use their phone as a watch. He should know…he’s a high school teacher. I know what he is saying, but I’m sure when these kids get jobs, they’ll realize the value of wearing a watch. I know I did. And still do. I’ve had phases of my life where I didn’t wear a watch, but much prefer wearing a watch. In fact, I’m wearing a watch right now. A watch that is an unique and special as that watch that watch I got for my 8th birthday. I was sent a very unique watch from Jord. The watch is made of wood. Completely made of wood. Wood strap. Wood face. The inner workings are metal, of course, but the watch itself is wood. I chose a watch in the Ely series.

The watch I chose is the Ely Maple. I love the creamy color of the wood. The face surrounding the watch is smooth and soft to the touch. The strap is articulated, fits comfortably on my wrist, and doesn’t snag on hairs or skin. As I move my hands to type, drive, or do household tasks, the watch moves as I move. The Ely series from Jord Watches has an elegant, small-face design. It’s an everyday watch with a touch of class. The watch has the following features:

  • Hardened, scratch-proof glass face–26 mm diameter.
  • Frame–34 mm diameter.
  • Band width–21.5 mm.
  • Single action locking clasp, made of stainless steel.
  • Premium Citizen Miyota movement with date window.
  • Due to the nature of the wood chosen, colors and grain pattern may vary.
  • Splash proof, but not intended for complete submergence in water.
  • The Ely Series watches come: Natural Green & Maple, Black, Cherry, and Maple.

Other wooden watches from Jord Wood Watches are:

  • Sully Series — two-tone wood watches; available in Cherry, Natural Green, Black & Maple, and Cherry & Maple.
  • Fieldcrest #8 — designed for men and women; available in Maple, Natural Green, and Black.
