I was talking to my doctor at a checkup. He asked me a question during the visit that caught me off guard. I was literally tongue tied. If you know me, you’ll know that I am rarely tongue tied. I can always think of something to say and then some. Though I wasn’t always like this. As a young child, I was shy. I’m still shy but I am more comfortable talking to people in group settings. In fact, my children often say that I will talk to ANYONE. While this is not entirely true, I am a chatty Cathy.
My doctor asked me what makes me happy. What? I had to think. I wasn’t expecting that question at all. What does make me happy, anyway? My kids, of course. My husband. Any time we spend together makes me happy. Whether we are on the road to a volleyball tournament. Or eating dinner as a family. Or watching a movie together.
Family movie nights are some of our favorite nights. We gather in our family room. We feast of movie snacks. We sip cold drinks. With two teens, our movie night choices have to be carefully considered. My youngest will watch pretty much anything. While our older two are picky.
Because my older two are picky about what they watch, they are lukewarm about watching some of my son’s favorite movies. My son is a boy who loves a good action animated movie. He’s a superhero devotee. Loves watching action movies. But, if his sisters balk at watching one of “his” movies, he will watch on his own!
