I love shortcuts. Ways to save time. Work arounds. As a work-at-home mom, my day is divided in to two parts…with kids and without kids. Let’s not even get in to the fact that my day includes precious little “me” time. I’m in the season of life where it is kid-focused all day and every day. And really I wouldn’t have it any other way. But I like to find time savers here and there…creates a little more me time…which I love.
When I am not driving my mom van to school, carpool, sports practice, or Cub Scouts, I am at home working, making dinner, doing laundry…you know the usual. My daily schedule changes a bit on the weekends as I work less and spend more time with my family. But I still like to find time savers. One huge time saver to me is shopping online. I can open up a laptop, search for what I need, order it, and within a few days wear it or whatever.
My latest online purchase was for all of us. I found something for each member of my family. I bought Good Fellas DVD for my husband and I as we are movie buffs…Joe Pesci is brutal in that movie…I would not want to cross him or any other of the other gangsters. For my oldest I bought a staple from my childhood in Britain…an “annual”…which is a book based on a TV show or a movie. The book I got her was on Dr. Who…she loves that show. I remember watching the 3rd Doctor as a kid in England. For middle I got the Breaking Dawn Part 1 DVD. She’s my TV watcher…a chip off the old block(!)…her favorite shows are The Office, Glee, and anything on ABC Family. And for my youngest I got a do-it-yourself mystery book where you write part of the story. He loves books that require him to do something to move the story a long.
