Did you know that October is National Pork Month? I must admit that I don’t keep track of National month of this or National day of this. So, for all of you out there who like me only realize it is National month of this through reading a blog post or seeing a Facebook status, this blog post is your notice that October is National Pork Month. I’m excited that for once I am in the know and can share with my readers!
Did you also know that Costco is offering discounts on top pork cuts? If you didn’t you should know that the pork cuts at Costco range from chops to roasts to pork tenderloin to boneless loins. Very yummy.
In addition, members of Costco can take advantage of weekly savings ranging from $2.00-$2.50. I’ve been a Costco member for almost 20 years, and I’m telling you that the savings from my Costco membership add up. Not only do I shop for groceries and my household needs at Costco, but I also shop for Christmas gifts, toys, and video game. For instance, it’s been over 15 years since I purchased toilet paper or paper towels from a grocery store. I’ve also purchased 3 cars through Costco’s auto sale program and once refinanced my home with Costco’s home mortgage program. You can truly buy anything at Costco!
From October 22 and 28, Whole Boneless Loin is $2.50 off at Costco. We are entering the holiday season and I am sure like me you are wondering what to serve for the holiday dinner. I’m an everyday cook, but my husband is the special occasion cook. He recently purchased a pork from Costco…super yummy recipe to follow. Stay tuned for my next blog post for #PorkParty.
Boneless pork loins are a great, and tasty addition to a celebration or family dinner. Pork loins are low in fat yet flavorful. Try it roasted or perhaps stuffed with flavorful ingredients. What I like about park is that it pairs easily with many other foods, for instance, apples, onions, and rice for a perfect family celebration. Want to win some Costco cash? Read on.
Worried about how to cook pork? Well, the USDA reduced the temperature guideline for pork loins, chops and roasts from 160 to 145 degrees F, with a three minute rest. Cooks should be aware that cooking pork at 160 to 145 degrees results in a product that may be pinker in color than most home cooks are used to. Ground pork, like all ground meat, should be cooked to 160 degrees.
